Women's Cricket

Information

The Women’s Section of the Club has enjoyed three very successful seasons since its inception in 2007. Girls have long comprised an important component of Charlbury’s Youth Section and the Girls’ team finished as runners-up in the Lady Taverners’ competition in 2006. The idea behind the establishment of the Women’s Section was to give local female cricketers the opportunity to continue playing the game into adulthood.

The Charlbury team play in Division 3 East of the Women's Midland League but also take part in friendly games in an Oxfordshire-based league. In recent years, several female cricketers have played alongside their male counterparts in the Club’s Third XI and in the friendly Sunday team, with notable success!

Training sessions for the Women’s Section currently take place on a Thursday evening. The full range of Club facilities is available for use (nets, slip-catching cradles, etc.) and there is plenty of cricket equipment that can be borrowed if required. In addition, qualified cricket coaches are on hand to supervise the sessions and to offer technical advice and encouragement.

Women's XI Team

Membership of the Women’s Section of Charlbury Cricket Club is open to all women and senior girls (15 years old and upwards) who would like to play cricket. Players of all abilities are welcome: we cater for those who take their cricket very seriously right through to those who just enjoy playing sport in a friendly and supportive environment, taking some gentle exercise and getting involved in the social side of the Club after a match.

If you are interested in joining the Women’s Section, or would just like more information, please feel free to contact the Women’s captain, Vicky Strode. Alternatively, just turn up to a training session on any Thursday evening in the summer and join in the fun! We look forward to welcoming you to the Club.
