What a day! 🤩
Yesterday, our Under 13s put on two sensational finals day performances at St Edward’s School, bringing home the U13 County Cup in style.
The semi final saw our young cees take on a strong Oxford side. We won the toss and elected to bat. We got off to slow start but with Z Lewis scoring 14 and a solid partnership between L Harris-Bass 26 and S Jones 30*, guided us to a defendable 117 off the 20 overs. S Dunn striking first ball of the Oxford innings to remove their number one bat set the tone for the rest of the game. With wickets for G Eaton (3), A Lewis (2), S Dunn (1) and B Lee (1), as well as run outs from Z Lewis and L Harris-Bass, and catches taken by J Seaton, A Lewis & Z Lewis, we were able to bowl the opposition out for 111 in the 19th over, giving us a 6 run victory. It was a very tense game but lots of learnings to take into the final!!
Meanwhile, in the other semi-final, Goring secured their win against Thame to set up a final clash: Charlbury vs Goring.
With the trophy on the line, our team rose to the occasion yet again. Every player contributed, from tight bowling and sharp fielding to some excellent batting under pressure. Some key performances were Z Lewis retiring not out scoring 31 with the bat, and once again the partnership of L Harris-Bass (25) & S Jones (20*). Our bowlers stuck to their plans, with wickets from L Harris-Bass (4), G Eaton (2), B Lee (2) and A Lewis (2), as well as a run out from J Seaton/S Dunn and catches from A Lewis & Z Lewis all contributed to bowling Goring all out for 84 in the 17th over in a convincing win, crowning us U13 County Cup Winners!!
The team work, support for each other and effort that every one of these players put in throughout the day, as well as the journey leading up to finals day is truly awesome and they should all very proud of themselves! 👏👏
